Nice to see some activity on the list.  

Am currently trying to help out the schoolforge.net web site.  They're updating their information.  If anyone's interested in working in conjunction with them, they're very interested in working with other projects.  As far as light systems, ltsp seems to be the way most people on the Schoolforge mailing lists go when they want to revive older computers for schools.  

I personally have an older laptop I've been trying to keep going.  So I've been very interested in finding lightweight Open Source applications and operating systems that will still work with it.  Have some articles I've been working on regarding this at:

At present, I've been looking at FreeBSD and Debian (netinst) for older systems or lightweight installations.  For people who are interested in running something similar to Arch on an older machine, Connochaetos looks like it could be worth checking out.
