I've had good success with Linux in Window environments. I'm running Gentoo 
on a Pentium with 64 MB @ 180 MHz. I am able to log in the Win 2k Terminal 
server without problems. I actually appreciate Linux more & more because of 
the cost of installation. Once it's set up, I don't have to fiddle with it 
anymore. Gentoo is even easier to run, in my opinion, than Windows. I'm not 
trying to be critical.

If she just wants to email & network disks & surf the Internet, then try 
using Opera for the web & Samba for the disks. I don't know what to 
recommend for the email, though, because I use a web interface.

Just so that you know, I am not the most experienced user out there. I'm not 
very experienced at all. So be careful with taking my advice.
