[RULE] Intro, questions

Hello all. This is a very interesting project. I am a participant
(something of a beta-tester, even though a bit technically-challenged) in
another project that aims to run Linux on older PC's. This distro is
based on Slackware and is called "Basiclinux" (
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/baslinux ). It uses an
older Slackware release - 7.1, and an older, specially compiled kernel
(2.2.16). Have a look at the website, if you're interested.

Next, I'd just like to bring to folks' attention a nice, older-pc-friendly
app that may merit inclusion with the distro you're working on. It's
called "naim" and is a console instant messaging client that does AIM/TOC,
Lily, ICQ and IRC protocols. Very small and very efficient on older
hardware. Unfortunately, I doubt there are rpm's of it available (
http://site.n.ml.org/info/naim/ for further info)

Finally, about installing RULE. My target machine runs DOS and
Basiclinux. The preferred method of booting Basiclinux is with loadlin.
I plan on adding a partition for RULE there, and I really will need to
boot it with loadlin, if that's possible. I know how to set up DOS and
loadlin to do this, but I'm not sure how RULE will want to handle
bootloader installation. Only GRUB and Lilo are mentioned in the docs.
Will I be able to cancel out of installing a bootloader somehow when I
install RULE? If so, I'll be able to go in later and copy the kernel
image over to the DOS partition so as to use loadlin, as I currently do.

Thanks, and keep up the good work.

James
