As far as I understood Eugenes proposal, he suggests to change the
slinky-installer so it produces automatically during install a file with
all the info needed, which then could be uploaded to the database. 

My opinion on that:

1. It would be a great option! For the ones who install many systems its
quiet boring to figure out the data from files like /var/log/messages
etc.

2. It will reduce the fields answered with n/a and even more important
it will reduce the possibility of typing-errors or errors in format a
lot ("Did you mean GB or MB?")
