Michael,
Thank-you so much for the quick response. The new package worked
like a charm. I am currently testing the install in a VMWARE session with
12mb of ram and everything is going smoothly. Tonight I will be installing
on a 486/33 with 12mb of RAM with the intent of using the box as a
firewall/proxy/router. Thank-you again for your excellent work on this
project.

Yes. I hope... ;)
You need the latest version of the slinky installer. Just uploaded a few
moments ago. Previous versions lacked the needed /dev entries. This
version should now have the proper /dev files. If not, you can manually
add anything you need once you have booted using the 'mknod' command. If you
have trouble, feel free to mail me, and I'll see what I can do.

Or http://savannah.nongnu.org/download/rule/slinky/slinky-v0.3.6/
You'll need to grab and have available the module(s) needed for your scsi
card. Modules are here:
http://www.tuxfan.homeip.net:8080/rule/slinky/2.4.18-4RULE/
(directory structure is similar to what would be in
/lib/modules/$(version)/)
You can download and put them on a floppy (I hope they fit)
If you would like to help with some testing, you could also try the
slinky-detect boot floppy. It should find and list details about your
scsi card. If you do, I'd appreciate a copy of the report.txt file. I
don't have a machine with SCSI for testing.

To do the SCSI CD install:
Boot from the slinky boot disk, swap floppies, mount the module floppy,
and insmod /mnt/floppy/module_name.o
You will need to create a link in /dev for your drive (scd0, perhaps?) ln -s
scd0 cdrom, if that is the proper device file. I know very little
about SCSI devices, sorry.
Before beginning the install, verify that you can mount the drive
manually. 'mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom' Don't worry about the messages,
it'll cycle through several filesystem types. Verify that it is readable,
'ls /mnt/cdrom' should do it. Then, 'umount /mnt/cdrom', and start the
installer.
During install, the installer may fail to find the drive, and will ask you
to select the proper entry. Use the /dev/cdrom entry, and it should work.
Other than that, the install should be normal.
