Which version of slinky are you using? I just checked 0.3.6, and it works
here. Both 0.3.5 and 0.3.6 should work, please make sure you created your
boot disk using either of those.
Can you try booting by entering (at the boot prompt)
linux ramdisk_size=2048
Failing that, please try:
linux ramdisk_size=3072
Let me know if that does the trick please?
