Hello,
We have one hostel in Patras (that I know of).
http://www.patrasrooms.gr/
The same guy also seems to have rooms. I don't know how much use they've
seen though. That might be good because you might get a good price for the
whole time you'll stay, but it can also be bad as the rooms might be old
and not that well taken care of.
Apart from that, this link might be useful, although be warned, it is in
Greek.

Useful words are (I hope you can read greek script):
γκαρσονιέρα (ΓΚΑΡΣΟΝΙΕΡΑ in capitals) : small one-room appartment
ενοικιάζεται (ΕΝΟΙΚΙΑΖΕΤΑΙ) : is for rent
<number> τ.μ. (T.M.) : the size of the apartment in square meters
επιπλωμένο (ΕΠΙΠΛΩΜΕΝΟ) : furnished
Google Maps has Patras, and you can find most addresses in Patras there, I
believe. The city is small, and most things are at a walking distance, if
your place of work is in the centre. However, if you'll be working at the
university, be warned: it is outside the city, and you need a bus to go
there, that doesn't come so frequently.
Phone numbers in Greece have to be called with a +30 (0030) prefix from
international lines. They are 10 digits long, including an area code,
which for Patras is 2610.
I hope you enjoy your stay in Greece :)
