wvdial exit code 16

Καλημέρα ,
χρησιμοποιώ debian 3 release 2 με πυρήνα 2.4.22 Όταν προσπαθώ να κάνω dial in με το wvdial μου βγάζει error
looks like a login prompt:
ppp daemon has died : a modem hung up the phone (exit code =16)
deisconnected
