In 2005 the French paramilitary police force (AKA Gendarmerie,
approximates the U.S.'s FBI) moved from Microsoft Office to
OpenOffice. A year later it abandoned Mircosoft's Internet Explorer
for the Mozilla Foundation's browser Firefox and its email client

free Linux operating system, becoming one of the biggest
administrations in the world to make the break. The gendarmerie is
currently using Microsoft's Windows XP operating system. But they will
progressively change over to Ubuntu Linux.

biggest administration to shift to open source for its operating
