problima me cifs - ellinika? - google desktop

Πρόβλημα νούμερο δύο (πιθανώς έχει σχέση και με το προηγούμενο 
thread που άνοιξα):

Έχω έναν fileserver που τρέχει debian (τελευταία stable), o
οποίος τρέχει samba και έχει ένα share με τα αρχεία μου. Τα
αρχεία αυτά, εκτός από μουσική και βίντεο, είναι και ό,τι έχω
γράψει (εργασίες, σημειώσεις, παρουσιάσεις κτλ) τα τελευταία
χρόνια. Τα περισσότερα έχουν γραφτεί σε windows λειτουργικά (ως
επί το πλείστο) - είτε με office είτε και με απλούς text editors
(πχ με τον text editor του total commander). Συνεπώς, αυτήν τη 
στιγμή, κάποια αρχεία είναι utf8, κάποια windows-1253 κτλ.

   Αυτό το share το κάνω mount από windows και από linux.

Από το desktop linux μηχάνημά μου (ubuntu 7.10) κάνω mount το
share αυτό.

Στο desktop linux μηχάνημα εγκατέστησα το google desktop for 
linux, με σκοπό να κάνει index τα αρχεία μου και το περιεχόμενό 
τους, για να βρίσκω εύκολα ό,τι θέλω. Ξεκίνησε να γίνεται το 
indexing, το οποίο όμως μετά από 2-3 μέρες δεν είχε τελειώσει 
ακόμα (αν και τα μηχανήματα ήταν idle τουλάχιστον 12 ώρες την 
ημέρα) και παρατήρησα τους δίσκους στον fileserver να βαράνε 
υπερωρίες.

Ανοίγω το syslog στο linux desktop μηχάνημα και ιδού:

Γκούγκλισα για το cifs error, αλλά βρήκα ελάχιστα πράγματα - έχει 
να κάνει με το utf8, αλλά δεν κατάλαβα περισσότερα πράγματα.. Για 
το δε gdl (googledesktopforlinux) error δεν βρήκα πρακτικά τίποτα..

Εν τω μεταξύ το indexing του google desktop δεν λέει να τελειώσει..

Κάποια ιδέα? Μπας και τρέχει τίποτα με τα ελληνικά? Το google 
desktop δεν καταλαβαίνει ότι κάποια αρχεία είναι σε win1253 και 
"τρελαίνεται"?

Θέλω να το σπάσω (δις) το ρημάδι..
