Εγώ έχω το εξής sources.list ->

deb http://postmortem.csd.auth.gr/debian/ testing main contrib non-free
deb-src http://postmortem.csd.auth.gr/debian/ testing main contrib non-free

deb http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib non-free
deb-src http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib non-free

(που σημαίνει ότι καλό θα ήταν να προσθέσεις και τα 'contrib non-free' -
δεν είμαι σίγουρος πάντως αν το synaptic είναι εκεί)

Δώσε σε κάθε περίπτωση να δεις τί παίζει με synaptic:

debian-vm:/var/www# apt-cache search synaptic
cpad-common - common files to support the Synaptics cPad driver kernel
modules
cpad-kernel-dev - kernel header for the Synaptics cPad driver

xfree86-driver-synaptics - dummy package to upgrade to X.Org new modular
packages
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics - Synaptics TouchPad driver for
X.Org/XFree86 server

και μετά aptitude install synaptic
