Τι σημαίνει τότε;

Το εγχειρίδιο πάντως άλλα λέει.

Αυτό δεν νομίζω ότι ισχύει. Ο editor μου γράφει σε iso-8859-7. Στη
mode line έχει

που σημαίνει ότι το encoding είναι iso-8859-7.

Αυτό είναι απλά το γεγονός ότι τα μηνύματα έρχονται στη λίστα ως utf-8.
Δεν λέει ότι ο editor μου γράφει σε utf-8.
