Το αρθρο που έστειλες αναφέρει ότι αγόρασε μερικές απο τις πατέντες για
τα 3D γραφικά (κυρίως hardware). Το OpenGL είναι ένα ένα software API
Πως μπορεί κάποιος να αγοράσει ένα API;

Και μάλλον καλά νέα είναι αν κρίνω από το:
"... patents will change its technical strategy. But they do add significantly
to its bargaining position with hardware vendors, giving Redmond 
important new leverage. Rival APIs, principally OpenGL, are kept alive
through the support of graphics hardware vendors."
