Αυτό δεν σημαίνει ότι και πρέπει να συμφωνήσουμε με αυτό. Το Debian πχ (ακολουθώντας
παλαιότερο fhs), δεν χρησιμοποιεί το opt. Η ιδέα είναι οτι το /usr είναι για
προγράμματα απο το Debian distribution, και το /usr/local προγράμματα που
πέρασε ο administrator... Αν κάτι μπορεί να γίνει shared μεταξύ μηχανημάτων διαφορετικής
αρχιτεκτονικής είναι τα /usr/shared, και /usr/local/shared (γι'αυτό και λέγονται και shared).
