best mtu for ppp leased line ??

Hi,

I have setup a serial ppp link between two linux systems using 33,6 Kbit
analog leased line modems.

The traffic on the link is mainly telnet sessions from the client
system(s) to the host and some invoice printouts using lpr and smb.

I am using mtu/mru 576 bytes as suggested in an example in Leased Line
How-To.

Is it OK for my setup or can I iprove it ??
