IntelliMouse supports the PnP COM device specification.
To use this mouse as a serial device: 
        Protocol "Auto" or "IntelliMouse"
        Device   "/dev/xxxx" (where xxxx is a serial port)
To use this mouse as the PS/2 device and the OS supports PS/2 mouse
initialization: 
        Protocol "IMPS/2"
        Device   "/dev/xxxx"  (where xxxx is the PS/2 mouse device)
To use this mouse as the PS/2 device but the OS does not support PS/2 mouse
initialization (the wheel won't work in this case): 
        Protocol "PS/2"
        Device   "/dev/xxxx"  (where xxxx is the PS/2 mouse device)
To use this mouse as the PS/2 device and the OS supports automatic PS/2 mouse
detection: 
        Protocol "Auto"
        Device   "/dev/xxxx"  (where xxxx is the PS/2 mouse device)
