New Linux user! Please some help for Internet Connetcion!

I' m a new Linux user. I' ve got SuSe (R) Linux 6.0. I have problems in
connecting to the Internet. I understand that it sounds laughing but what I
can do. I' ve got the book tha Suse gives with the CD's but I don't
understand too much. I' d like someone to help me telling me the exact steps
that I have to do in order to manage a connetion to the ARPA net (Internet).
