Από το NEWS του libstdc++ του egcs:
libstdc++ for egcs is not binary compatible with previous releases
of libstdc++. 
Οπότε θέλεις την libstdc++ για τον egcs.

Το solaris είναι πολύ πιο κοντά στα POSIX και UNIX98 πρότυπα απ'ότι
το linux (και μάλιστα τα επεκτείνει τρομακτικά με δικά του features).
Ο μόνος λόγος που θα το προτιμούσα είναι αυτός.
