Your efforts are noble, but, I believe, ultimately futile.

My opinion:

Microsoft only implemented the Basic functionality of IMAP.  They want
it to be only useful for reading mail, nothing else.  This way they can
claim to be "open standards compliant"

If they made the IMAP service feature-rich, it might steer enterprises
away from using their Outlook MAPI clients (for $$$) and use something
free, like Thunderbird, instead.

Microsoft's developers probably "tried" to get certain search facilities
to work, but if they don't work, they are not that interested in fixing
it.

Maybe I am jaded, but that's what I think.
