If you ask me, there is no reason for having messages marked deleted in
your spam folder; I mean they are out of the way in some folder other
than INBOX, so why care about their flags?  If I were you, I would
enable the "close" option, and move any messages I want to keep, in a
different folder... maybe a folder called "deleted".  More folders never
hurt anyone, and they simplify things in this case...
