Dear LDP leaders,

I am Guylhem Aznar, the current LDP coordinator. Your emails
were extracted from our pages - this is not a spam ;-)

As you may have already been told, the LDP is moving from linuxdoc.org
to tldp.org. We are taking advantage of this opportunity
to improve the LDP internationalisation and rename ourselves the english
LDP.

We would like to unify the naming policy, and have the languages we
support available under languagecode.tldp.org, such as fr.tldp.org for
french or en.tldp.org for english.

In fact, the current linuxdoc.org website along with the mailing lists
is being moved to en.tldp.org since it is english-only content.

Currently, some non english LDPs such as the brasilian and the french
LDP confirmed their interest in this new naming scheme and will be
joining us as br.tldp.org and fr.tldp.org

Would you like to do the same and use languagecode.tldp.org for your
documents and your mailing lists?

www.tldp.org will redirect visitors to the best suited website,
following the language preferences set on their browser.

You can of course continue to support your current URL (linuxdoc.org
will redirect to our website) - we would just like to have the documents
on languagecode.tldp.org so that anyone could easily find documents in
any languages. But if we could do more than that it would be really
better since we would like to have a full collaboration between the
different LDPs in the future. Because you are not only 'translators' but
a real part of our documentation effort - a very important part indeed.

You are therefore kindly invited to i18n at en.tldp.org where we can discuss
internationalisation issues altogether. Please send a message to
i18n-subscribe at en.tldp.org to get on the list. Feel free to invite other
members from your LDP if they would like to join us and forward that
message to whoever it may interest.

The current questions are:
 - could we use a single repository (CVS)
 - could we use a common database (lampadas)
 - could we work on documentation format needs (docbook)
 - could we unify ourselves under the generic "tldp.org" name?

We are in the process of becoming en.tldp.org. It will take some time so
we perfectly understand you would like to think about the proposed changes
and even if you agree to them, need additional time to implement them.

This is just an open invitation, but we would really like to have you
become an active part in the LDP future.

If we are going to become a big international multilingual project with
a better organisation, we need your teams and your opinions to manage
this one new LDP - bigger and better, but more important : unified as
*The* Linux Documentation Project, TLDP, unlike the different LDPs
we are currently.

So let's find how we can improve our work, together on i18n at en.tldp.org

Best regards,
Guylhem
